Students will have the opportunity to take a guided tour of our half-mile wooded trail behind the Jacques Cousteau National Estuarine Research Reserve Coastal Center. The trail is comprised of both upland wooded habitat and salt marsh. Students will have the chance to observe and identify various species of flora and fauna. For older students, we’ll discuss transition zones between habitats, vegetation succession and invasive species. In addition to the guided walk, younger students have the option to do 1 of 3 different kinds of scavenger hunts while exploring the trail (either BINGO-style, sensory or a species checklist). Students will have the chance to share their observations at the conclusion of the walk.
